 NJS a Model School !
How proud we were today as NJS was chosen by An Taisce as the "model school" for how to achieve the Green Schools Flag for water.
Our pupils were invited to the Viking Hotel to present their work to other schools in the City and County who are currently working on the "Water" theme.
This invitation came about at the recommendation of Ella Ryan - Conservation and Environmental Officer at Waterford City Council And also Darragh Deevers who recently visited our school for the Stride to School Day.

Ireland ranks below Germany, England in children's mobility study

Children in Ireland have less freedom than children in countries such as Germany, England, France and Finland when it comes to travelling to school and moving about in their communities.
The finding comes in a new study ranking children's independent mobility in Ireland at 12th out of 16 countries.

Water theme Fashion Show

5th and 6th class organised a water themed fashion show. All the costumes had to have a water them and they all had to be made from recycled materials.

The rest of the school were invited to the fashion show and we all had great fun.

Our new Water Butt

The Green School Committee held a Siopa Glas to buy and sell all pre loved books and toys. With the money we raised, we bought a water butt to collect rain water which can be used to water plants in our garden instead of using tap water.

Here are photos from our visit to Tramore Beac for a beach clean up. Sdaly the weather was not too good so we went and learned all about sealife.
